UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Located in Los Angeles, the University of Southern Calfornia is a large, private, research university with a world-class faculty and a diverse international student population.  The university is home to 17,000 graduate students and 17,000 undergraduates who study in 17 professional schools, which offer over 150 majors and nearly 120 minors in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Communications and Journalism, Medicine and Dentistry, Law, the Visual and Performing Arts, and Public Policy.

Founded in 1880 and situated two miles directly south of the downtown area, the university has grown in both size and diversity with the city of Los Angeles, a location that allows USC students to explore a broad range of professional internships and to participate in advanced research across all fields.  Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to participate in research both in the lab and out in the field.
Each year, the provost’s office funds over $1 million dollars in undergraduate research experiences.  Despite the university’s size, students enjoy close interaction with professors as the average class has 26 students and 80% of undergraduate courses have under 40 students.
