We at AustraLearn have been coming to RECRUIT in CANADA events for a number of years now and I have to say that working with Penny and Larry and attending the RECRUIT in CANADA events are one of the highlights of my fall every year. I talk with high quality students from all over Ontario who are interested and engaged in the possibilities of international education. Penny also goes above and beyond to help us year in and year out to connect with Canadian students and guidance counselors who are looking for information on studying in Australia and New Zealand. And this is not just during the course of the RECRUIT in CANADA events, Penny goes out of her way to help us during the rest of the year as well. Penny is simply an amazing resource and is generous with her knowledge and expertise. For the past ten years, I have been the International Recruiter for Colorado State University - Pueblo and have recruited students from all over the world. In October, I participated for the first time in the Recruit Canada tour, sponsored by Penny Bissett Consulting Inc. There was truly never a dull moment. If we weren't visiting a high school, we were meeting thousands of students at each fair. The number and quality of students at the fairs were more than I had expected. To have so many productive activities in such a short time was really incredible. This tour definitely provided the possibility for our university to spread the target market further in the world for possible enrollment of international students. I would recommend the Penny Bissett Tour to Canada to anyone interested in receiving an outstanding tour organization at a very reasonable price. I definitely will represent our university again for the upcoming tour to Canada. Cooley Law School sent three admissions representatives to the Recruit in Canada Graduate event in Toronto. We were busy speaking with prospective applicants the entire time. There was a lot of interest in the American law degree. Meeting so many Canadian students with qualifying credentials was worth the time and money spent. The event was very well organized. We plan to participate every year..... Penny, I must tell you that once again the event this past fall was the most organized and well attended graduate recruitment fair I have attended all year. Thank you for all of the time and effort that you and your husband put in to this. Your efforts do not go unnoticed! I recenlty spoke with a Mr. Bob Tennyson, a representative of the Graduate Schools Guide publication and conveyed the overwelming success of the Recruit in Canada program. He asked that I fax him additional information, which I have done. ... Guidance Counsellor feedback: For years, Penny Bissett has provided programs, information and when needed, quick responses to the many concerns Ontario counsellors face when dealing with out-of-country institutions. Penny's International Fairs and Counsellor Days are viewed as important, well-organized and valuable events. Her counsellors' listserv is a popular, frequently-used vehicle that facilitates improved understanding and dialogue. Her willingness to devote time, energy and resources to supporting Ontario counsellors has not gone unnoticed. Penny's balanced approach to supporting good decision-making on the part of all students has enabled her to earn a reputation as a highly-respected, knowledgeable and trusted resource upon whom many counsellors rely. Dear Penny: I would like to take this time to thank you for the service you provide for Ontario high school students, parents and guidance counsellors. It is important that students and their parents be made aware of all of the post-secondary school options available to them. I have hosted the International University/College Fair for the past two years and I have been very impressed with the organization and quality of this event. Universities and colleges from the United States, Europe and Australia visit Ontario and display the variety of programs available at their institution. This is a very important event as it allows Ontario students the opportunity to investigate all of the possible options available to them. Once again thank you for organizing this event and for providing information through your web site. The service you provide is excellent and very useful for students in Ontario. We are so lucky to have a resource like Penny Bissett in Ontario. Really there is no one else out there offering this kind of service to students, parents and teachers. Many times I have contacted her or have given her number to students and parents when an issue or question comes up about American or overseas schools. I have known Penny for most of my 30 years of work in Guidance and have always found her to be very honest, knowledgeable and willing to share her expertise. I have had the priviledge of working with Penny Bissett over a span of 30
years. From my perspective as a Guidance Counsellor and Head of Guidance she has demonstrated over and over a high degree of effective communication
with students and parents. I have frequently seen her in action in schools
helping and encouraging young people to make the best decision about their
academic futures .Her enthusiasm in this field has blossomed when she began A few years ago, I received information about an International School's Fair held in Toronto. Many of our students would like to venture abroad but a lot are not sure of costs, etc. What a perfect opportunity for me to attend and meet some representatives from different countries. It is at this first Fair that I met Penny Bissett. She was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the contacts and the schools. I sat in on the workshops, which gave me a greater understanding of how to help our students make the transition to an international school. The whole day was a great experience and terrific opportunity to talk face to face with representatives from all over the world. I wish I was 17 again and able to take advantage of some of the terrific opportunities! I took note that it must be a tremendous task to organize an event this size but every detail was taken care of. The facilities were terrific. The lunch provided was wonderful with a terrific speaker and view of the city. The representatives I spoke with were professionals, often times professors who could answer very specific questions on the spot. I have attended this informative conference every year since and have highly recommended it to parents and colleagues alike. I am also a member of the listserv and find this an invaluable service. In conclusion, in my opinion, this event would not be the success it is without Penny Bissett.
